Juvenile Delinquency Prevention Program
The juvenile justice system plays a crucial role in holding youth offenders accountable
for the crime when providing rehabilitation services, treatment, and various programs to help
them avoid law violations in the future. The first established juvenile court in 1899 reacted to
harsh treatment that the children experienced injustice system by acknowledging the differences
between the adults and the children in terms of development (Park et al. 161). The court
advocated for the rehabilitation goal as the juveniles criminals come from different backgrounds.
Thus, it is essential to create a program for juvenile delinquency to guide the juveniles towards
the right direction that they should follow. This essay would focus on the after-school program as
a prevention plan for juvenile delinquency if the Federal Government provided me with
unlimited funds to establish such a program.
The best prevention program for juvenile delinquency that I can create given the
opportunity is the after-school center that will serve middle-school children. I will ensure that my
after-school center acts as the role model for interacting with students. They will be using their
after-school program to take the extra-curricular activities. These extra-curricular activities will
include games, movies, and sports (Welsh et al. 81). I have a strong belief that middle school
children are always prone to delinquency because it involves being in the age bracket of feeling
defiant. In that case, my after-school program will be beneficial to these individuals, especially
in the areas of low-income earners. In these regions of low income, the children living there are

exposed to high crime rates, which subjects them to the risk of being delinquent based on the
influence of the neighborhood on criminal activities.
My program will be operated twice a week, including every Tuesday and every
Thursday. The kids will be in the classrooms during those two days in different cities. They will
have the opportunity of having fun by participating in various activities like sports and art. This
program will include broad games to entertain children through participation in different
activities that keep them busy (Zimmerman et al. 23). My program will give each student the
opportunity of interacting with each other positively and ensuring that their minds are never
distracted by the negative thoughts that can subject them to criminal offenses.
The appropriate means that the Federal Government can use to fund such programs is by
devolving the funds to the school district levels. In that case, the school districts in all parts of the
involved counties will be receiving funds for this program. The YMCA program also has the
same operational structure at their expense. My program will entirely depend on the Federal
Government’s support. The government will provide financial support and various social
amenities that may be helpful for young students in middle age (D’Agostino et al. e1919996).
The central premise of my program will be in schools as I will incorporate this program in the
school routines and schedules by involving critical stakeholders like parents and teachers. It will
give easy access and monitoring of the student’s behaviors.
I believe that the homework assistance from the after-school program is likely to reduce
the domestic violence that the students are exposed to when they are at home (Zimmerman et al.
29). Thus, my after-school program will improve the children’s social skills so that the kids who
have passed through this program may not be in risky behaviors.
