INTRODUCTION
Get the education you want, wherever you are, whenever you want.
An online course is a course that is taken online rather than in a real classroom.
Because of time constraints, a desire for independence, or a distance from a campus,
online learning may be the best option for you.
You may learn the following things online:
⚫
get certified or accredited without ever having to step foot in a classroom
⚫
Work full-time and go to school part-time.
⚫
Make your own timetable and study when it’s convenient for you: in the morning,
over lunch, or even at night.
⚫
meet and talk to students from all over the country and the world
receive a University of Victoria education from the comfort of your own home.
When it comes to the instructional value of online courses, this isn’t always the case.
Face-to-face students are restricted to a certain location, but online students may study
from almost anywhere. An overview of how to get started with online education.
When teaching in a classroom, both the teacher and the pupils must be present at the
same time. There are a number of delivery modes available for online learning, which
gives students greater flexibility in their schedules. Visit our website to learn more
about our many online delivery options.
ONLINE LEARNING ( 500 WORDS)
WHAT ARE THE BENEFITS OF ONLINE LEARNING?
1. Improved Flexibility and Self-Paced Learning Added
Many individuals are unable to take time off of work in order to enrol in a full-time
graduate school, while others must often travel for their jobs and other obligations.
Those who need to work and go back to school may benefit from the convenience of
an online programme, which allows them to continue their education while still
advancing their careers.
2. In addition, better time management is required.
Maintaining a work-family-school balance is difficult. Employers are aware of this
and appreciate the ability to handle many tasks at once. There are no defined class
hours with an online degree programme so it’s up to the student to be proactive in
contacting professors, completing assignments on time, and making plans beforehand.
3. Self-discipline is shown in the third step.
Employers look for new recruits with the top ten most sought-after employability
skills, and getting your master’s degree online demonstrates that you have both. You
demonstrate your ability to handle many activities, prioritise, and adjust to changing
work environments by completing an online degree.
4. Communication and Collaboration in the virtual world have been improved
To become a better leader, you must become adept at working with people in a virtual
team. Using your specialised expertise, building efficient procedures, and making
judgments about the best communication techniques, such as what should be
communicated in person or online, can help you develop essential leadership abilities
that will benefit your career.
WHAT ARE THE CHALLENGES OF ONLINE LEARNING?
the challenges that students who take classes online face while pursuing a degree via
remote learning. Teachers should be aware of these four downsides of virtual
learning.
Inadequate use of time
Successful “time management” has been linked to better academic achievement and
decreased levels of stress in kids, according to research. Researchers found that
“many students struggle to maintain a healthy balance between their academic and
non-academic lives,” and that bad time management was linked to “poor sleep
patterns and elevated levels of stress,” among other negative consequences. Effective
time management is even more challenging in a distant learning setting, because there
is little support from classmates or other students to keep pupils on track.
Instantaneous Communication Is Lacking
Instantaneous communication allows students to acquire answers and clear up
misunderstandings in an in-person context. Asynchronous communication is common
in an e-learning environment, which implies there is a gap between the instructor and
the learner in terms of their interaction. Unanswered questions may lead to
misconceptions, which can worsen before they’re resolved.
Getting Negative Feedback Lately
One of the most significant and relevant ways in which a teacher interacts with a
student is through providing feedback. Students might get confused and unsure of
your expectations, their progress, and their performance in your class if feedback is
delayed by extra days or weeks due to an online format.
Inability to understand or meet expectations due to unclear guidance or expectations
It’s critical to communicate clearly with kids about what’s expected of them. If they
don’t, they’ll only be able to assume if they’re doing their jobs and projects right.
Asynchronous communication might make it more difficult to create clear
expectations in the classroom.
YOUR OWN EXPERIENCE
Student involvement is another key consideration in an online learning environment.
However, I’m not going to go into every possible method students may be emotionally,
intellectually, and behavioraly engaged in the classroom. The following are some of
the most important things to remember about student participation. Interactivity is the
most evident one. When this is used in games, the learner’s emotions are constantly
monitored and managed via a series of incentives and feedback mechanisms. There
may be a way to reward students for completing sections of a project in the form of
points or other rewards in an online learning environment. Extrinsic motivation, on
the other hand, is at the heart of this system. Students’ interests should be taken into
consideration while choosing activities and projects. The simplicity with which a tool
may be used is another factor that contributes to student involvement. Students in an
elementary school class were given a fantastic homework that required them to
“draw.” Several issues arise here, such as how pupils should be expected to draw. If
so, do they possess the necessary know-how to create digitally? Students will be less
likely to ask follow-up questions if online learning resources are designed or revised
with simplicity of use in mind. Narrative is the final component I’d want to discuss.
Reading peer-reviewed journals, academic publications, and books in my field of
interest is a regular occurrence for me. A piece of writing that is structured in
narrative style, with an engaging tale, enthrals me more than anything else. I was
reminded of how much I like reading a good narrative when reading Tara Westover’s
“Educated.” In addition to being educational, tales may be entertaining. The concept
of novelty enters the picture as a last consideration. New experiences pique our
curiosity, and we tend to seek them out. How about using some of the unique
characteristics of an internet setting to develop some brand-new studying exercises?
Many students have found it difficult to maintain eye contact with their virtual
classmates, which has the potential to detract from the overall value of the online
classroom. Chair of Academic Affairs for the Undergraduate Council of They,
Deepak Gupta ’22 says that when classes are “over crowded,” students just remain for
class, from start to finish, which means there is less time for students to socialise
before and after class.
CONCLUSION
Demand for web-based teaching and learning has increased as a result of the Internet’s
vastness and ease of accessing. Across the country, school districts and universities
are embracing online education. Students in high school may benefit from taking
online classes, but there are also hurdles and disadvantages to consider. The best way
to assist high school students taking an online course is discussed in this study. It is
possible for students to expand their educational horizons by taking online courses,
which are becoming more popular in today’s increasingly competitive educational
landscape. Self-motivated, self-directed, and self-responsible learners are essential for
students pursuing higher education via online courses. Online learning may be a good
fit for students if they can identify their own learning style and skill set.
Understanding the elements of a course that promote students’ comprehension and
involvement will also be beneficial to instructors and course planners. Online courses
rely heavily on instructor-to-student communication in the form of encouraging
remarks, constructive criticism, and timely feedback.
