Poster Design
Every brand needs a posters or other visual element to advertise their products, and
Canva is a software application for them. Using the in-built page layouts, one may produce
various visual content such as brochures, posters, letterheads, greeting cards, and so on. They
could also make their own through scratch. They will start with the guide for beginners, in
which one will discover the fundamentals of Canva. The Canva Pro membership does not
require payment. The free plan will aid in the creation of the layout. To begin, create an
account on Canva and then follow the creative instructions provided in the next section of
this document. Canva is ideal for individuals that need to create posters to advertise a
company or raise awareness.
It is an available internet application that one may use in their browser without having
to install any element. There are more than one thousand stock photographs that one can
choose from. It also offers free models to assist in determining what content should be
included in the poster. Canva is a free platform that allows anyone to create promotional
posters for their business. Canva is an alternate to Adobe Photoshop for simple layouts, but it
comes prepackaged with designs created by Canva designers. They also offer free visuals and
allow users to contribute their own in order to generate custom content. To undertake a
project, login into Canva and click the poster symbol. This will result in a blank banner. To
the left, you will find pre-made posters that are free for use. A user can choose one of those
flyers or use them as a starting point. It is advisable to have a sample of the final work prior
to embarking on designing a poster. This is necessary given that it presents a user with an
outline, thereby making it easy to select the various elements of the poster on the website as
opposed to random generation. One is confident that after following all the steps outlined
below, they will be able to generate a professional and captivating poster.

1. A functional computer. Most computer systems meet the bare requirements for
downloading and running a simple task. 3.3 GHz+, 2 GB RAM, and an SSD are all
recommended.

a) Click ‘Create a Design’
After logging in to the platform, although one does not need a premium account, the free
version is still effective. They will them go to the user dashboard and click the Create a
Design option in the top right-hand corner. After selecting, a see a dropdown list will
appear with several choices. For this illustration, it will focus on creating a poster.
Whenever comes to producing posters, the options that one can choose from are
landscape and portrait. However, most people prefer the portrait option. In this example
the designer is required to make a poster well with default proportions for the design.

b) Choose an Appropriate Template
This stage will focus on selecting the most appropriate template for the job. One could
choose the templates depending on their creativity or the layout of the task. The layout tab
will appear when they have chosen a design type.

From the template above, one can either choose a framework and change it or start afresh
on this page. In this example, the designer will create a poster to spread awareness about
cybersecurity. At the start they begin by choosing an appropriate template, one that appeals to
them. To locate the design, they will use the toolbar given to search for online bullying
templates and pick one which we believe is most relevant.

c) Change the Order of Items, Photographs, and Typefaces
Here is what one can do when they have chosen a template. They could consider changing
the typefaces and add a new font set. They could also modify and add new content to the
current texts. At this stage, the designer could consider replacing the old parts with new ones.
Modify, crop, and apply effects and filters to the image. For instance, in the current project to
make the anti-cyberbullying campaign poster.

d) Remove The Old Photo and Replace it with a New Stock Photo
This stage the designer will replace the old image because it is not ideal for online
bullying. It is the customization stage, where by the designer becomes objective on the
specific message they want to convey through the posters. They will browse the phrases on
the toolbar in the images tab to find the exact image they are looking for. They will then
choose the best option and put it to use.

e) Change the Color of the Backdrop
The designer might want the concept to be distinct and one-of-a-kind. As a result, they will
alter the present design’s backdrop color. The style is simple but effective due to the singlecolor backdrop. To give the backdrop a fresh style, one could use the same plain color or a
transition color for the entire backdrop. The various varieties of solid color backgrounds are
shown in the image below. To ensure this, they will change color, click once on the backdrop,
and the format bar will display with several altering options. To access a list box of color
schemes, press the hue window. Choose the one that best suits the design.

f) Incorporate Aspects into the Design
At this stage, the designer would want to add more elements to make the poster attractive
to the viewers. They will add fascinating aspects to the process to make it more appealing to
avoid generating a plain poster. The could consider use of a background image as it enhances
the visual appeal of the material, as visuals instantly draw the viewer’s attention. There are
several methods for adding photos. Pictures can be chosen from Canva’s vast library or you
can upload one’s own. After one has chosen a picture, they may add forms and words to
make the design attractive. They will also put a box just above the image to accommodate
alternative words that match the color palette. Using the menu, look for the most suitable
element. One may also modify the color, shape, or flip it by selecting it.

g) Add New Content and alter the Typefaces
The designer will then add new content and change the typeface. Considering the
specifications, one can modify their various fonts. They will have to be specific about the
features that they need to include in the poster. For instance, they will include hotline
numbers for reporting any cases of cybercriminals, as well as interesting content that will
have a beneficial impact on viewers. To alter the various typefaces, they could go to the e
textual tab, one can add various sorts of grouped texts or browse for current typefaces. If one
has the Canva’s premium plan, it is possible to import and create their fonts.

h) Make Changes to the various Components of your Design
At this stage, the designer will tweak the different typefaces and features that they
incorporated to finalize their design. There are no rules for this, therefore one can organize
them however they choose. They have to simply ensure that the components of your layout
are proportional and in harmony with one another. Additionally, they will have to select a
design feature, font, or picture and hold the left button on their mouse to reveal a list of

At this stage, the designer will save the chosen design to the local files after they have
finished it. This enables for easier retrieval and also reference at a later time. However, in
most cases, all of the drawings are instantly saved to Canva’s local cloud storage by the
platforms software. One could easily access their work and they may edit, download, or
utilize them at any moment by logging into their account. In case one needs to share the file,
they should click on distribution, choose the file type, then choose the download option from
the list to save the design to the local file.

j) Completed Design
This is the final design for our campaign poster.

Conclusion
Having followed all the processes outlined above, one is able to create a captivating
poster whose aim is to create awareness concerning cyber bullying. The process was detailed
and needed careful planning and deliberate action. For one to create an appealing poster, they
need to concentrate on the very steps , however it is also important for them to be creative.
