Bist globalization position paper
Committee: National Book Developmental Board
Topic: ASEAN Integration
Country: Philippines
Due to globalization, many countries has been connected with each other. Helping
each
economy grow, sharing cultural and political beliefs. Aside from that, many organization was
formed, just like the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN). ASEAN contributed a lot
to the National Book Development Board.
ASEAN Integration affects our agency in a good way. As part of the National Book
Development Board, we play a vital role in our country. We promote the publishing industry in
the Philippines with the main reason that books influence psychological, technical and cultural
development of the people which is a sign of progress of our country’s social foundation.
Reading books is a powerful tool as it gives us knowledge about something, it develops our
thoughts and ideas about a certain topic and keep our minds active. With books, we can
preserve our history, share our cultural heritage and our literatures to other countries that is
part of the ASEAN and be acknowledge as one of the country with the best stories to tell.
ASEAN Integration helps us promote the books and the authors in the publishing industry not
just in the Philippines but also internationally. With ASEAN Integration, we can create more and
better opportunities for the Filipino authors. We have many masterpieces that is worth sharing
around the world. Examples are Jose Rizal’s Noli Me Tangere and El Filibustersimo which is
written to show the people how Filipinos are exploited by the Spanish colonizers. Aside from
that, it can also help with the growth of the market for Philippine Books. As the audience gets
bigger, there is a tendency that more people will be interested and buy that book which also
benefits the economic growth of the country. Not just that, we can be Asia’s number one
Publishing Hub as our audience grow and be globally competitive as our market gets bigger.
Without ASEAN Integration, we will be having a hard time promoting the Philippine publishing
industry to other countries which will result to authors having less opportunities. And also, the
Philippine economy will be affected.
ASEAN Integration provides a positive impact to the country specially to the National
Book Development Board as it helps our economy grow, create more opportunities to Filipino
authors and promotes our books internationally and share our culture and history. As we
promote our publishing industry, we hope that other countries will do the same. Like
promoting each other’s pieces to other countries to make it known globally not just by the
Southeast Asian nations. By that, there’s a chance that many people will promote the pieces.
