I will be writing about Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, the aspiring CEO of Emirates Airlines.
Emirates Airlines is one of the highly recognized airlines in the world. The company has achieved a
competitive advantage under the leadership of Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum. He actively
participates in the development of the aviation industry of the United Arab Emirates, and he is a
notable member of the government body. Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum’s contribution to the local
aviation industry is highly significant. Due to his active role in the development of the aviation
industry of the United Arab Emirates, it is possible to run flights to various parts of the globe
conveniently and the possibility of fast liners. Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum regularly expresses his
opinion and interest in making subsequent technological changes in the aviation industry to allow the
company to achieve adequate growth and development. Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum wants to
actively invest in making relevant improvements in the transport industry and building Emirates as
the world’s largest airline. The immense strengthening of the aviation industry of the United Arabs
Emirates is due to the active participation of Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum in the formation of the
development program and maintaining diplomatic-based trade ties with the necessary partners
(Bloomberg, 2022). Therefore it was imperative for me to determine the success of Ahmed bin Saeed
Al Maktoum by highlighting his leadership qualities and traits.
Leadership Traits
People Focused
People-focused is one of the traits which refers to the individual being focused on managing
other people and improving his people management skills (Lakmal, 2019). Ahmed bin Saeed Al
Maktoum has adequate people management or social skills that allow him to effectively manage the
workforce. Emirates airlines are considered a favorable employer due to its compelling human
resource management policies. As a leader, Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum is highly honest and
candid with his employees. He often provides immense bonuses and growth opportunities to the
employees to improve their productivity and performance (Rehman, 2022). Ahmed bin Saeed Al
Maktoum maintains a positive organizational culture to effectively build trust with the employees and
gain their confidence. It is a known fact that honest and transparent leaders will breed employee
commitment, engagement, and loyalty, resulting in higher performance of the organization. Ahmed
bin Saeed Al Maktoum highly trusts his employees and ensures that they hold accountable for their
performance and action (Al Zawahri, 2022). Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum has effectively
committed to action and provides autonomy to the employees to make an important decision. The

significant aim of Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum is to develop a strong people-based culture to enable
the organization to achieve a competitive advantage in the business environment.
Empowering
The highly empowering attitude of Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum sets the workforce apart
from other workforces. Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum ensures that he effectively communicates
across the different business functions. It will include sharing essential information, cultivating input,
and asking intelligent queries from the workforce. From the start, Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum has
emphasized his expectations levels from employees to make sure that the employees work hard to
reach their desired expectations and achieve the goals and objectives of the organization. In an
interview, Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum highlighted that his employees see him as an approachable
individual. This means that even a janitor can go meet him at his office without taking an appointment.
He identifies himself as a peoples person due to his current attitude and behavior (Emirates, 2022).
Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum empowers and inspires the employees to achieve their complete
potential, which will ultimately benefit the business in the long run. He drives his workforce forward
by enhanced motivation, inspiration, passion, and enthusiasm. Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum ensures
that he invests adequate time in understanding their needs, priorities, preferences, and strengths. He
makes his employees feel valued by being emphatic towards their feelings.
Innovative
Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum has an innovative mindset, and he empowers the employees
to provide their innovative input for the success of the organization. Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum
has developed an innovative-based organizational culture to encourage creativity and innovation from
the workforce. Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum emphasizes thinking outside of the box at the
organization instead of having a conservative mindset. In the era of digital media, it is highly
necessary for a business to adapt according to the changes occurring in the market. Therefore Ahmed
bin Saeed Al Maktoum wants the workforce to display innovative ideas to enable the organization to
achieve a competitive advantage in the business environment (Maktoum, 2022). Ahmed bin Saeed
Al Maktoum has displayed outstanding strategic visions and encourages the workforce for strategic
thinking, action, and innovation.
Progressive
The one thing on Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum’s mind is to ensure the strong progress of the
company in the business environment. In an interview, Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum highlighted
that he does not use possessive pronouns in the professional work environment as it will imply that
he puts himself above the people. He knows that his employees play an adequate part in the
development and success of the company; therefore, he needs to put their needs and preferences at
top priority to increase employee morale and loyalty (MBRU, 2022). Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum

often steps aside and gives the limelight to the employees. He values and acknowledges the work of
the employees by appreciating them in public. At Emirates, Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum has
created an adequate platform for his employees to highlight their esteemed contribution to the growth
and development of the organization (Holding, 2022). It motivates the employees to work to their full
potential and yield efficient outcomes for the growth of the business. Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum
is highly straightforward with his employees, and research shows that employees respond positively
to change when the leader is transparent and transparent.
Inspirational
Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum is an inspirational leader who actively inspires and influences
the employees to work to their maximum potential. He wants to lead the people by example does not
want them to be his followers. He wants to build their leadership skills and core competencies and
inspire them to perform their very best. It will effectively motivate the employees to achieve the goals
and objectives of the organization. Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum is authentic, as authenticity is a
major key for inspirational leaders. This will allow him to build respect within the workforce and
enable the employees to see what he actually stands for. Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum is an inspiring
leader who is highly passionate about achieving the desired business outcome (Jabbar, 2022). The
primary aim of Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum is to engage employee engagement and morale through
his immense passion. It will mean that he takes out his time to listen to the views and queries of the
employees to understand their issues and engage with them on another level.
Decisive
Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum is a decisive leader, as he does not want to waste an adequate
amount of time in making decisions. He ensures that the employees are involved in the decisionmaking process by gathering their valuable input and views. Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum has the
adequate ability to make clear and timely decisions with relevant information for the growth of the
company. (Maktoum, 2022). He tends to make decisions that are completely clear and final. Ahmed
bin Saeed Al Maktoum avoids overanalyzing and suggests the workforce to take inspiration from his
approaches to make compelling and quick decisions.
Comparison between the Writer and Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum
Based on the analysis above, Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum has compelling leadership traits
and characteristics that can be effectively followed to strengthen one’s positive aspects and work on
one weak aspect. Therefore my primary purpose is to compare my skills and abilities with Ahmed
bin Saeed Al Maktoum’s skills and abilities and analyze my strengths and shortcomings.

According to the above illustration, Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum meets most of the highly
demanded leadership traits and characteristics. In a short span of time, Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum
was able to get the workforce to trust his motivates and vision. He is an inspiring leader who is
followed by his entire workforce as he was the driving force of the company to achieve adequate
success in the business environment. Over the last 25 years, Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum has been
a prominent and notable figure in the UAE. He has positively contributed to the development and
growth of the country’s aviation industry. He has actively supported the vision of Dubai with his
inspiring work. Along with the position of CEO, he holds various government positions and plans to
play a leading role in the development of the energy and finance industry of the country.
While comparing my traits and characteristics with that of Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, I
found out that we both share a few traits like people-focused, inspirational, empowering, and
progressive. I have compelling social skills as I have always been an extrovert throughout my life. I
do not like staying in my comfort zone, which leads to engaging in different activities to enhance my
skills and core competencies. Like Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, I tend to inspire my teammates
whenever we work on a group project. In my academic life, I always became a team leader and
inspired others to effectively work together to present a collaborative point of view. I tend to motivate
the team members to present their innovative and creative ideas for the progress of the group project.
I always focused on the positive aspects of life instead of fixating on the negative aspects. I have
always received positive feedback from my teachers and friends because of my positive thought
process.
On the contrary, there are a few traits and characteristics that I should improve and become
an inspiring leader like Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum. For instance, I am a very indecisive person
as I tend to overanalyze aspects that hinder my ability to come to a final conclusion. I also want to
enhance my overall creativity to present innovative ideas on the table. At times, I do lack selfconfidence, which leads to immense self-doubting. Therefore, I need to foster creativity and
innovation in my personality.
To conclude, Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum is an inspiring and successful leader in the
business environment. My primary aim in choosing Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum for this
assignment was to highlight his outstanding traits and skills.
