CAVE FORMATION
TEXT STRUCTURE
The cause is the reason why things happen, in essence, the driving force. It is the reason why
other things happen. The effect is what happened after the cause; it refers to the results from an
earlier cause. It is the relationship between things where one thing makes something else happen.
Humans have a fundamental drive to look for the answer to why things happen, which is
essential in learning the basic ways the world works.
Example:
A cave is a natural void space specifically large enough for a human to go in it, formed often by
the weathering of rock and often extend deep underground. Caves widely range in size and are
formed by various geographical processes involving erosion by water, chemical processes,
tectonic forces and atmospheric influences.

INSTRUCTIONAL PLAN
EXPLANATION
The formation of caves is a scientific phenomenon of cause and effect text structure, the realistic
speculation about possible future events, based firmly on enough knowledge of the natural
world, past and present and a defined understanding of the nature of science.
Science text-focused presentations address the importance of text for engaging in investigations,
the function and challenges of its specific forms, and ways students can get helped unpack
science texts, acquire knowledge and express their own ideas. Students engage in science talks
and writing and reading skills that include reporting, explaining, questioning, and arguing.
Science texts are in many kinds, specific and challenging words, grammar, patterns and
representations. A text structure is the framework of texts starting, middle and end. Different text
structures are required for different expository and narrative genres having other objectives and
audiences. It is a crucial decision for where to start, and the lead should be encouraging. The
hook orients readers writing purposes by thesis or topic set. A right hook sets up the mood of the
piece. The middle part depends on the genre. Cause and effect are used to illustrate relationships

between events. The end depends on the purpose of the context, like twists for a surprise, looping
back for suspense or unhappy for tragedy.
Cause and effect structures are used to show relationships between events, offering reasons to
enhance relationships. Words like, because, as a result, are many times used to organize
information. It describes, explains and grants knowledge in writing, generating an individual’s
persuasion, developing logical arguments and give opinions in style. When an author outlines
reasons why something occurred, they are describing what caused an effect. When a writer
describes the results of an action, it explains the impact of a cause. Cause and effect usually
narrow on explaining why something occurred or still occurs in the present day. (Cause) happens
the first, and (result) is the last.
Students will be reading to understand a natural phenomenon. The cause and effect give a
broader and comprehensive deep look into most aspects considered in any writing and reading
process by providing ample reasons to some specific regions of concern, mainly concerning
nature. It will be easy for students to read and comprehend every aspect. Students will have the
zeal to know further why, how, and when certain things came into this world’s existence and
offer solutions to questions about today’s many things in presence.
DEMONSTRATION
We have a graphic organizer on the first page offering a perfect example of cause and effect
graphic organizer. It illustrates and explains the formation of caves in this world how it has
occurred. The first column points out the causes which lead to the formation of a cave. The
second column describes the results, which are the caves formed afterwards.

CAVE FORMATION
Using our above graphic organizer, we can analyse the causes and effects involved in the whole
process of cave formation. It is perceptible that each step is affecting the next step as well as the
outcome. These are multiple causes, but all of them lead to the formation of a cave. This chain,
cycle, disjointed or more complex cause events all impact a specific outcome that cave can easily
explain.
The example above is the cause and effect of the formation of a cave for many years. Based on
our above cause and effect graphic organizer, the reasons are multiple, thus different formations
of caves. Slowly moving underground water dissolves rocks in carbonate and sulphate form like
limestone, marble, gypsum, and dolomite, which takes longer. The dissolving of the stones takes
a long time which is a cause. Molten lava continuing to flow and eventually draining out after the
outer surface of a lava flow cools and hardens through a new vent is a cause, too (Delannoy et
al., 2020). The constant action of sea waves attacking weaker positions of the rock makes it a
reason. When meltwater excavates, drainage tunnels through ice is a cause too. All these causes
affect the surface they are exposed to, and at the end of all these processes, they are eventually
forming a cave. To locate a particular article will be easy because these are processes that unfold
in order, one event leading to the other. You can easily land the piece you are searching for since
we have the; beginning, middle and end parts in order.
GUIDANCE
After demonstrating, I will lead the students to read an article. `I would like you to read page two
up to the start of page three” After the students have finished reading, I will ask them the
following questions: `what is cause and effect? `what is a cave?” `Concerning our context
above, what is the genre for cause and effect?” `Using our graphic organizer, what are the causes
and effects during cave formation?”. Next, I will tell the students to read pages three to four”
6
CAVE FORMATION
then I will ask the following questions: `about our graphic organizer, what is cause and effect?”.
`what is a text structure?” `what are the three parts of text structure?” `giving at least three types
which rocks dissolve to form a cave?” `which gas usually leads to the dissolving of these rocks?”
`Citing one of the causes can you explain how a cave forms?”
PRACTICE
After guiding them and explaining, I will urge the students to go back to our text and ask them to
list the causes of a cave formation. Then they will conclude what the effect was on the cave
formation processes after I ask the students to record this information on the cause and effect
graphic organizer.
APPLICATION
I will ask the students to go back to the cause and effect text and thoroughly derive a summary of
how it comprehends a cave’s formation. The summary will include the primary causes and
effects of the whole process.
STUDENTS REFLECTION
Concerning our context, I will develop a set of questions that will determine what the students
have understood from their feedback.

How can you explain cause and effect
What are the causes of cave formation?
About our context, what kind of genre is this?
Identify and explain three types of text structure
Which types of rock are usually dissolved by underground moving water?
