Throughout this chapter we have discovered how globalization takes place in the
modern society and how it influences the humanity. It led us to evaluate how cultural
integration, international associations, market’s stocks and trading, technological
revolution, etc. emerged simultaneously across the world. Through most of history,
countries have constrained access to global information and poor international trading
arrangement as local routes were not fully formed. People had fiat currency such as gold
in exchange of goods, service, or labor. However, nowadays, people have infinite
connection to free social media platforms and can impart information to others and here
a shift to whole new era introduces a great development in the system of the world.
Technology have arise exponentially form the past decade and that created a whole new
realm of transactions and way of communication. Today information is regards to hold
great power in the interchange of society, economically, politically and personally.
Globalization promotes international interconnectedness and had created a
competitive yet demanding world. Primarily, globalization is an economic process that
integrates national markets to a wider global market manifested with a free trade. It can
also be represented by the process of intensification and expansion of social relations
across world-time and across world-space.
As someone who have been exposed to modern technologies and using them in
everyday life, I can say that globalization has the capacity to transform normal people
with basic knowledge into someone who are smart-witted and revolutionary. And this is
usually the leaders that we know outside the battle fields. Person with great mind that can
transform something. Leaders who have the stand with their principle despite the
opposition and condemnation.
Technology is described as the implementation of practical application of such new
goals of human existence, or, as it is frequently expressed, the modification and
manipulation of the human environment in accordance with or in response to scientific
knowledge. Technology can be knowledge about procedures, processes, and the like, or
it can be incorporated in devices to allow them to operate without full understanding of
their functioning systems. Technology systems or technical systems are those that
employ technology by receiving an input, altering it according to the system’s function,
and then creating an output. And one of the outputs the propose a revolutionary
development and change in todays’ social pursuits
In the present time, media and globalization is interconnected and will always be
a means of easy accessibility to information and easy communication to people and
transaction to various aspect of personal needs. Unfortunately, there are channel in social
media that trigger cultural imperialism, media censorships, and fraud. These things are a
threat to social media users, the people, because sometimes we are taking advantages
for the benefit of other people’s business or personal interest.
Globalization has made huge changes to different industry and network in life. It
built numerous sub-culture and societies that require new form of management structures
and principles to comply. For instance, in the fashion industry, many people specifically
artists and fashion designers have innovated more sophisticated design of clothes that
manifest global trend. In education, many countries have included ‘English’ language as
a subject and medium of communication to improve communication skills and become
globally competitive. In science, technology, and research, scientists and engineers have
become more advanced in developing machines or technology that would make life
easier. In politics, leaders have become innovative in creating policies to improve
economic standing and international relations. All these examples are proof that
globalization is indeed encouragement to humanity in making conventional societies into
more idealistic and concentrated through sub-cultures and futuristic societies. That’s why
groups like UN, and ASEAN are created to further develop the changes that continues to
happen around the world.
The rise of capitalism in the modern society where Market-system organization
dominates the economic globe, the Free market becomes the core of neoliberalism.
Neoliberalism or free-market trade drove dramatic change in globalization. We cannot
dispute the huge potential we gain from free market commerce but owing to some
corporations or people who will perceive this as an opportunity to take crimes that
generate concerns of exploitation, making an inappropriate edge of globalization to the
point where they can manipulate the trade and views of people in a single rule but the
reality is the majority of people are unable to take advantage of the opportunity, and just
a few people get the full rewards. That’s why the wealth gap between the rich and the
poor exponentially increase day by day, because of this kind of system- that is also
created by the people above.
Global cities or mega cities are known to be spot for job opportunities and better
quality of life. It has good urban planning and great contribution to the economy of a
country. However, the quality of service and a good chance for advancement or progress
of it to some big companies and people has undesirable danger to marginalized sector of
the society and more importantly to the environment. Sadly, globalization is directly
detrimental to those marginalized or historically under poor quality of life and the concept
of economic globalization has paved way for massive inequality.
The sought to fight for Human Rights is an act to not eliminate the inequality and
poverty but to diminish the number little by little. Human Rights is document of agreed
terms that strongly influence those in power. But still to enforce it to the majority is a great
challenge especially to those who are implementing the Human rights. Cause right now
commercialism impose by the capitalist can be either a beneficial or threat to people, but
for those under marginalized sector and immigrants, this system is bad for them. Global
cities offer job opportunities but the possibility of someone from poor status of life,
especially lack of education, to get hired is subject to qualifications and extreme
procedures.
There are spaces that were originally lived by marginalized sector in long years.
Since these people have no rights as they may be owned by the government and just
rented for them, they will be forced to be relocated in provinces or rural areas as their
houses will be demolished in exchange of invested establishments. These poor families
become poorer while those investors are taking advantage of them. There are instances
as well when as a global city attracts more capital and richer residents, real estate prices
go up and poor residents are forced to relocated to far away but cheaper areas.
Immigrants have also no future to global cities in some countries. There are nationalities
that are not welcomed to get opportunities or even get spaces in these cities.
Unfortunately, discrimination in global cities in some countries exist and they remain sites
of great inequality.
In concern in disclosing the Human rights organization like the United Nations have
constitute by a number of countries around the globe. And we can’t deny the fact that
this kind of organization influence the network in globalization, and it has created
internationalism and improve international relations of countries and region towards
political issues, economy progression and global markets. Globalization has been the key
to global governance that makes unity and peace among countries around the world.
From this, there are different international organization or association created while some
is under government organization and other is non-government association. But we must
also keep in mind that UN is body of representatives that kept communication between
leaders open to prevent any misunderstanding and we can’t expect that all the issues in
the globe can be solved by them since the organization doesn’t work that way but it’s our
best choice, for now.
International organization or association is an international intergovernmental
organization or groups that aims to discuss or share economic status of each countries
included and invent new system of governance as well as discussing important agenda
such as world peace, trades, and markets, etc. and another great example of it is the
ASEAN. ASEAN is a group of countries with a subject average in terms of various
statistics. The countries altogether can match great countries in the world in terms of
economic, political, and social and promotes a collective growth between countries by
sharing concepts, systems and ideas within the boundaries of a continental multicultural
society.
Looking back in the religious background of Asia where most members of the
ASEAN are located it compose of different these are countries with a very diversified
background and multi-cultured society in terms of, political stand, economic status,
especially in religion. And we all know that religion is a great barrier among mankind that
causes war around the globe in the ancient history and in the modern society. Cause it’s
the faith among men has different varieties and discrete beliefs that created a barrier
among humans. But it was made possible by the members of the ASEAN with the
envision for collective growth towards the globalization.
International associations that govern interactions between countries but one of
the most significant international group ever created was United Nations (UN), the IMF
and the World Bank. The United Nations aims to maintain international peace and
security, build cordial relations among states, and advance social growth, higher living
standards, and human rights are all priorities. Today, United Nations is the most powerful
association in the world as it promotes world peace and helps countries achieved
sustainability and diplomatic relations in all countries included. We might not yet realize it
but I know the world is getting better little by little and certain changes that disobey the
standard information the world have decades ago, isn’t being accounted and reported to
the entire world the humanity is making progress in certain global issues.
The rise of globalization also brings us draw backs and we can’t deny the fact that
in the battle of wits some people would still be left behind. Globalization is not all about
development and innovation for me it’s all about being “connected”. That is why as a
fellow humankind we need to promote protection not only for the people near us but also
for everybody. Yes, a lot of issue arises that’s why we need the help of everyone to solve
the global issue. And we can’t simply solve things by individually making some law or
righst because the deep-root problem lies in the system. They say we need to change the
rules to fix these inequalities, but I may say what we truly need is a change in the system
or a shift towards how the process, transactions, and trade is perform, a decentralize
system where all will be given opportunities. And this change in the system will suddenly
change the rules and the rulers. As an individual in this contemporary world, creating a
simple move towards the change would make a lot of difference and we can start it by
leading ourselves to the change that we want, because there will be no change if a change
isn’t created. Leading ourselves so the others would take the gut to also lead their selves
for the change, creating a movement that possess a shared goal and motive, and the
change we desire wouldn’t be that far from our reach. But as a leader of ourselves, we
should be mindful of the current stakes and must continue to show conviction despite the
opposition we would encounter. Globalization is a sequence of politics that changes the
society and there will be law that would enforce to us, and this will create a transformation
not only individually but in general. We should incorporate general decisions that
measures to fortify and ensure the person’s chances for impact.
