Criminal Justice

How does Search and Seizure relate to the B.I.G. case?

The ability to think critically is a key skill for success in the criminal justice field. It means not taking what you heard or read at face value, but using your critical thinking faculties to weigh up the evidence, and consider the implications and conclusions of the situation.

Suggestions from professor

I am enclosing my thoughts on how to do the assignment because I want you to focus on the content for this project. Keep in mind there was no trial in this case so you will outline hypothetically what would have happened because there WAS NO criminal trial in the BIG case. You have several witnesses to choose from and you should be able to come up with an interesting version of how this trial might have gone. Keep in mind as to how search and seizure would apply to this case.

I would begin with a title page. There is an explanation of how to properly do one and examples

of one located at:

Angeli, E., Wagner, J., Lawrick, E., Moore, K., Anderson, M., Soderlund, L., & Brizee, A. (2013, March 1). General format. Retrieved from http://owl.english.purdue.edu/owl/resource/ 560/01/

I would then do a short summary (one or two sentences) of the assignment. Then I would use each of the four requirement as a subheading. By that I mean that I would place it on its own line and center it:

A Description of the Trial Process

I recommend subheadings for several reasons. They form an outline and tend to make papers easier to keep organized and write; they help ensure that you don’t forget a point; they form a nice transition and keep your paper from sounding choppy as you move from one topic to another; and they help me to give you every point you have earned. By that I mean that if you answer a question in a manner I was not anticipating, a subheading helps me to put your thoughts in perspective and may help me to understand your response.

Now back to how I would write the Assignment. For each of the four sections, I would give an opening sentence or two explaining or defining the key term(s) from the question. So for this question, I would explain what the “trial process” is. For the second question (Examples of opening and closing statements) I would explain or define opening and closing statements, and so on. Remember that if you get information from where, whether it is the text or a dictionary or anywhere else, you must cite it, both in-text and in your reference section. Then I would proceed to respond fully to the question. Once you have fully responded to that section, move on to the next. Bear in mind that this assignment must be between 350 and 700 words.

The Grading Rubric also requires that you list a reference section.

I hope this helps.
