Influence of video Games on youth in promoting voilent behaviour

Video games are electronic games played on a video screen (normally a television, a built-in
screen when played on a handheld machine, or a computer). There are many types, or genres, of
these games: role-playing games; shooters, first-person & Third-person shooters, side-scrollers,
racing games, online shooting games, and sports platformers are just a few.
Since Every invention has it has its own Pros and Cons, likewise video games has its Pros &
Cons are listed as:
Video games teach skills, entertain, and make learning fun, improve basic visual processes,
enhance executive functioning, get tricked into learning ,but it can be violent, addictive, and
isolating.

It can create psychological stress. (Disturbs Mental health of a child)
Video games can become an addiction. (Cause craze to Win)
Long-term gaming can compromise personal health. (Physical stamina can be affected)
It isolates people from their families. (Spent more time on gaming)
There are financial considerations to think about.
It can limit academic process. (Limit affection with books and readings)
It may limit social connections. (They like to remain issolate)
Further research shows that gaming disorders can also be linked with anxiety, depression,
obesity, sleeping disorders, and stress. People who remain physically inactive for long periods
because of gaming may also be at higher risk of obesity, sleep disorders, and other health-related
issues, according to WHO.
Because of Mental Unhealthness of youth, they become voilent upto such level that they commit
social crimes like Fighting, Robbery, Suicide, Etc.
It was observed that 65.3% of the respondents of the present research prefer to play video games
more than two hours and 34.7% of the research population play games less than two hours so the
result depicted that children spend a lot of time in playing video games. [Case Study by Hina

Video games have also characteristics to attract the players attention and involvement because
video games allow the players to become active part ingame script like:

The result also added that 58.7% of the research population liked to play games that are full of
fighting, more than 13.3% liked to play action games,11.3%were those who preferred to play
violent games. So, the result further elaborated that overall, 83.3% of the children preferred to

These fighting and actiongames affect their behavior and make a negative impacton the children
which increase the level of aggression among the children that damage their behavior.
To put it into the nutshell, children mostly construct their behavior while playing through
observation and whatever they see around them. So, when they spend a lot of time in playing
violent video games, it damages their behavior and creates negative impact on their behavior.
Playing violent video games damage children’s behavior in Pakistan, they become angry if they
lose the game and they donot behave normally when they are angry (Some times in rage break
keyboard or mouse). As children admitted that shouting is becoming their habit now, the result
of the game effects their mood directly.
So, it is clear that when children expose to violence it creates a negative impact on them and
damages their behavior.
Children are very important member of any society because they are the future of the society, for
brighten future of any society, society should give proper attention towards the education and
training of their children.
The major problem in our society is that there is no guidelines for the children so they do not
have any knowledge which game is good for them and which not. Parents should not buy any
voilent and 18+ rated games and make sure block all access to such kinds of games.
This is the responsibility of the parents to guide their children that what should they play or what
not and also have aproper check upon it.
Govt should banned and take actions on commercial sale of such violent games in games stores
and online availability & make Entertainment Software Rating Board in Pakistan.
Parents should set a time table for their children that how many hours children can play and
should play and promote them towards sports and physical games because parent are the most
important for socializing their children in this regard.
In this way we can save children from the harmful effects of exposure to violence through
videogames as source of entertainment for children.
