Real Value
The documentary accounts for the actual value people can harness through economic
activities. Most participants are not referencing money, but instead, their core focus is personal
responsibility, the environment, and local communities. If one is happy doing a particular job,
then they are working towards sustainability. I am impressed that some responders realize and
emphasize that business roles must be different today. The financials, sales, and investment
returns are important, but I learned that they are small parts of why business and humans exist. I
like the explanation attached to our presence, including love and service. I gather that businesses
would amount to nothing if people did not establish adequate and appropriate services. I agree
that ethically-oriented individuals are noble and deserve appreciation. I am more likely to buy
items or products from a company invested in charitable activities than any other.
A significant lesson I took from the documentary is that businesses should act beyond
their capacity. We know they can make profits, but they should use the returns to give back to
society. Businesses should also see how they can minimize environmental impacts. I gather that
they should invest in building their moral courage by serving the community as a whole. From
what I understand, corporations depend on communities (but not vice versa). If the surroundings
receive proper care and protection, they nurture a business, but a broken community creates
problems. External forces can build or make a business crumble. The documentary presents
compelling arguments supporting the need for social responsibility on personal and corporate

capacity. Organizations have to realize that the social and financial aspects balance each other.
Therefore, businesses should focus on both elements to achieve sustainability.
Response
I came across the discussion you mention in your reflection. Indeed, the video discusses
sustainability and cost reduction. I support your position that claims the documentary is an
inspiration for stakeholders. The truth is that entrepreneurs, customers, business owners would
see how approaching people, the environment, and profits equally proves valuable to
corporations. The actual value derived from incorporating the three elements in decision-making
is worth noting. I am impressed by how you recognize sustainability in profit-making. I believe
the green-friendly economy we have today is inspired by considering people and the planet in
business decision-making. I also support the need for knowing customers as part of fostering
sustainability.
