Frankenstein Test
2. When Victor Frankenstein made the decision to destroy the female creature rather than give
her to Frankenstein’s original monster, he was making the wrong decision. Throughout the story,
Frankenstein’s original monster was abhorred and regarded with disgust and fear. Even the
monster’s creator forged an immediate distain for the being he created. Victor Frankenstein
stated “…now that I had finished, the beauty of the dream vanished, and breathless horror and
disgust filled my heart” (23). This shows the distain Victor immidiatly gains for his own creation
through the use of the word’s horror and disgust. As soon as the monster gained life it was reject
by the one who was meant to see the beauty within him, as God did Adam, or a mother with her
child. This goes to show that the monster had no one, not even his own creator, so why not give
him the connection that he’s quite literally willing to kill for. Frankenstein’s monster stated, “I
am alone, and miserable, man will not associate with me; but one as deformed and horrible as
myself would not deny herself to me…” (81). He had to have given the situation thought,
dreaming for one who was just like him and could be his peace and happiness in a world that
only wished for the riddance of the monster. When Victor finished creating the second monster,
that would’ve been the end of his problems because the deal the monster made was “If you
consent, neither you, nor any other human being shall ever see us again. I do not destroy the
lamb and the kid to glut my appetite, my companion and I will be content with the same fare of
acorns and berries. The picture I present to you is peaceful and human” (82). This goes to show
that the monster only intended to lead a happy loving life with someone that would’ve had no
choice but to relate to him, given the fact that they would’ve been the exact same monsters.
Frankenstein consented to this matter and still broke his promise, which only worsened his

relationship with the monster. Had Victor just given the monster what he was asking for, his
troubles would’ve been over.
3. The monsters’ violent actions against Victor are justified. Victor created a being, only to
immediately disown his connection to it. He could’ve easily just shown the monster love from
the start and saved himself the trouble of being someone the monster grew to hate.
