How to write methodology
Dissertation Methodology
The section of the method or methods explains what you did and how you did it, allowing students
to test the reliability and validity of your research.
It should include:
1. The type of research you have done
2. How to collect and / or select your data
o Measurement methods
Surveys;
Tests;
Available data;
o Qualification criteria
Discussions or focus groups;
Participant monitoring;
Available data;
3. How you analyzed your data
o Measurement methods
How to edit data before analyzing it;
What software did you use to analyze the data;
What math tests did you use;
o Qualification criteria
Content analysis: sorting and discussing the meaning of words, phrases and sentences;
Topic analysis: coding and data analysis to identify broad themes and patterns;
Speech analysis: learning to communicate meaning and meaning in relation to their social
context;
4. Any tools or materials you have used in the study
5. Your reason for choosing these options
The method category should normally be written in the past tense.
