Introduction:
Management and leadership are side slightly different concept that is used in the organisation
where the basic difference in the management and leadership would be discussed based on a
case study e-commerce website tried to develop for selling the cloth related goods and
services.
Organisational overview:
Next is the largest E-Commerce site in the United Kingdom and the company is also
operating the business in offline services so the company has to handle multiple types of
employees to operate the business in the United Kingdom and the multinational
countries(Holmes, 2007). Next was founded in 1864 but the company has started the online
operation recently where the company is very vast in resources which can be declared
because the company is listed on the London Stock Exchange. More than 550 retail shops are
available for the selected company and approximately 200 International branches are also
available for the company.
The company is following the consultative management style where the managers are
concerned with the middle-level managers to formulate the strategies and ideas that are also
taken field-levelled level which helps the top-level managers to understand the actual station.
In the final formulation policy, middle-level managers are also participating to set the final
strategy and in the finalist s the top managers are directly in for in the situation (Julier, 2009).
The definition of the manager
The manager is the person who was formally responsible for any kind of Duty and the
manager has to follow some specific rules and regulations of the organisation.
The role of the manager:
•
The managers are responsible to formulate the strategies and the plan also organised
by the managers finally the plan is also controlled by the manager.
•
The manager in the direction to the subordinate to complete any kind of War within
the specific format (Kearns, 2008).
•
The subordinate has to follow specific rules which are designed by the manager.
•
All the credit of the work directly goes to the managers because the perception of the
manager is that for being the planning and the management quality the work is
completed.
•
The managers try to use some powers in the world that could be e knowledge,
financial, experience for any cancer power to complete the task by the subordinate.
Definition of the leaders:
A leader is a person who encourages the subordinate to complete the task that could be a
specific format or using innovative format by the subordinate where are the leader doesn’t
need to be a part of the organisation (Foster, 2007).
The role of the leaders
•
The leader always tries to create some followers who are encouraged by the
leadership activity and motivated by the leaders to complete any kind of task.
•
Leaders try to show the way to complete the task but how the task will be completed
is developed from the subordinate capacity (Kline, 2010).
•
Positive tense in the staff who always be the hero of the team because the leaders
always motivate the staff to do any kind of task and how the task can be completed
which is diploid by the leaders.
•
A leader is a person in the team who give credit to all despite taking personal credit
and the leaders create its trends to learn from the mistake.
•
The leader knows how to raise questions and which questions solve the problem.
•
Leadership quality can be gained by raising Personal qualities.
Difference between the management and the leadership
•
The difference between management and leadership will be discussed where the
present organisation structure of the next is a management basis so what will be the
benefit of the leadership style will also be discussed in the part(Kutz, 2000).
•
The managers are focused only but the leadership tries to create a vision in the
organisation.
•
The managers show the way how the talk has to be done and what is the time limit of
the task but the leadership is the focus to understand the importance of the talk that
why the task has to be completed and what is the main reason for the task(Limited,
2020).
•
Managers always focus on short term good but the leadership always focus on long
term goals which can also be said that the managers have a specific target to fill up
within short time but the leader so what will be the future target at organisation will
get the future benefit from the process.
•
Management always try to develop an organisational structure which is very formal
but leadership tries to develop people perspective about the organisation and people
believes and people attraction to work democratically but the managers try to develop
an autocracy why are the managers will take all the credit of the work.
•
Policies are maintaining by the managers and employees maintaining some rules and
regulation in the management policy but in the leadership, the people develop a
culture and take challenges to complete the task for motivation and supportive beliefs
and attitudes of the leaders were the subordinates try to confirm the work to get a
short term goal from the organisation (Sheppard, 2001).
•
Management of the next full administered the subordinate but the leaders of the next
to create an innovative process in the organisation the employees who innovate the
ideas for self-development that will be used in the next and the next will gain more
benefit from the Management courses in the leadership process.
•
The main task of the management to direct and control by staff But the leaders try to
inspire the subordinates for team members to complete the task (Ted Prince, 2010).
•
A systematic procedure is maintained in a management uses but the leadership tries to
create policies in the organisation structure which is flexible rather than management
system but the marriage band is more consistent than the leadership structure.
•
Based on risk perspective, the risk is high in the leadership style because in the
management try to avoid the risk and leadership title opportunity the risk and several
opportunities is already gain in the leadership style in the 19th-century multinational
company is focused on management style and next is following the management style
from that perspective but the next has to change the style with the demand of society
and the business perspective.
•
Leaders are always in the top line and the leader shows how the task has to be done
and in all the process leaders involved in practically but managers show the way and
all the tasks are pulled by the subordinate (WARD, 2007).
Those are the basic differences in the management and the leadership process, the as the next
is following the management process some opportunity is Losing by the next which would be
e analysed from the above discussion.
In the initial situation, it was believed that the leaders are born but that man is not properly
correct because the leader is a person who motivates people and some motivational theories
are also used by the managers. Some leaders were born to change the social structure but
from the proper training and personal believes the leaders can be created fire education and
learning combined used in the process.
Theories
Some theories will be discussed shortly how the managers can be leaders in the part of the
report.
•
The Greatmen theory shows that leader is born And the quality of the leaders cannot
be changed because the leader quality is built in childhood and from social structure.
the theory was developed in the initial stage of the management process so the people
who have trapped in some short ideas(WARD, 2007).
•
The trait theories are similar to Greatman’s theories where the leader’s behaviour can
be transfer to another person by sharing or collaborating with the leaders for a long
time. why are the person will be self-confident and enough is to build up the quality
as a born leader.
•
In the continental theory believe that leadership style is the best for all situation
because the situation could be different and the leadership style has to be e change
according to the situation.
•
The situational theory that based on the situation the leadership style has to be
selected why are the leadership would be autocratic or would be democratic show the
skill of the leaders will be the main parameter to handle the situation.
Conclusion:
For being a multinational company, the people perception would be different in the country
basis so next has to develop different theories to maintain the people perception. in the report
the differences between management and leadership is shown based on next where the toplevel manager has to change the management style. the Situation theory would be the best
possible situation for the next because the People’s behaviour is different and the next has to
maintain all the things smoothly where are the company’s reputation is also dependent on the
management policy. specifically, it cannot be said that any specific process is best for the
situation because based on circumstances the process has to be selected hair done it should
use leadership policy because the circumstances show the guideline that the leadership would
give the best possible outcome rather than the management style.
