STATEMENT OF THE PROBLEM
This study aims to to addressed and fully understand the negative effect
of social media as platform for freedom of expression. For significant part of senior high
school student social media has become a platform for freedom of speech. Student use
social media to communicate, engage and develop social connection with other student
who have similar ideas and interest. Students are able to express themselves on social
media freely depending on their personal opinion. There are possible negative effect or
consequences for students and online communities and their freedom of expression on
social issues that could potentially be part of hate speech. Platforms frequently misuse
their freedom of expression, particularly on social media. Through policy and privacy
concerns, social media platform must ensure that their online platforms are protected,
as well as students’ freedom of speech.
After this research study, these are the question that sought to answer:
1.Is social media an effective platform for expressing our thoughts, freedom and opinions?
2.Is social media an unhealthy environment for exercising our freedom to express?
3.Does expressing in social media affects our well-being and gives us satisfaction?
4.Does language, grammar and choices of words affects the outcome of expressing our feelings
or thoughts on social media?
5. Does the participants thinks that their privacy was invaded by the information that they post on social
media?
RATIONALE
Social media and well-being are complex concept that integrate into all
parts of life. Social media has changed the game in how all people and especially
students communicate and shape their world view. Students, social media platform and
its negative effect.
The social media is the main idea that actually affect every aspect of human life. Social
media has changed the ways of people, particularly students engage and develops their
viewpoint. Social media as platform where students express freely with their
participatory and interactive point.
