Running head: DIGITAL FORENSICS

Digital Forensics
Digital forensics plays an important role in finding the evidence and supports the
investigations with all the technological advancements. As cybercrimes have become more
common these days, the cyber security team is hiring forensic specialists to analyze the data and
help them with the proofs. It is used in providing information about the time and location,
recovering the lost documents, etc. This course can be useful in determining the documented
evidence and verifying the digital devices (Dana Wilson-Kovacs, 2019). The forensic specialists
are involved in assisting the cyber police to verify the operating system and provide the smallest
form of evidence. They provide different types of services that are used in the identification,
collection, and preservation of the evidence. I work as a software developer and this course
helped me to develop forensic investigations for computer security incidents. The knowledge I
have gained through this course helped me to satisfy my responsibilities in the organization.
The digital evidence that is used in the cases is the information that is extracted from the
suspected device. It can be the stored information or the deleted ones. It is transmitted into the
binary form while submitting it in the court. The digital evidence is most commonly produced
from the devices such as computers or smartphones with certain categories of frauds (Graeme
Horsman, 2020). As software developer is responsible for conducting an investigation on the
attacks and intrusions that include insider threats and computer abuse. This course helped me to
understand the process of developing the data and formulate the investigations. I was also

capable of installing security measures and operate software to protect the system. Such
operations are useful while generating a piece of evidence from the devices for investors.
The role of digital forensics in violent crimes has become more specific as it can be used
for securing the evidence that needs to be documented. The process of collecting and
maintaining the evidence becomes the precise process in the enforcement of the crime. As the
crimes contain different loopholes the proofs need to be carefully preserved. The digital forensics
tools are mostly responsible for categorizing the evidence and investigating the crimes (Oleg A
Ostrovsky, 2019). A few of my responsibilities include supporting the information security lab
used for processing the investigation and all the forensic efforts. The knowledge I have gained
from this course supported me to establish a design that would update the software databases for
technical support.
Digital technology advancements have become more available for different fields to
support their growth and development. Artificial intelligence is one such improvement that is a
very important feature for digital forensic investigations. It works with large amounts of
information and obtains results easily (Dana Wilson-Kovacs, 2019). Access control is also
another such technical advancements that protect the systems from unauthorized access. Being a
software developer, I often work on flexibility to adjust multiple demands and develop best
practices for IT digital forensics. This course guided me to develop, test, and implement new
software programs to support digital investigations. I was able to work with the security team to
perform testing and uncover network issues to protect the information. The overall experience I
have gained from this course improved my performance level and made me efficient to
effectively deal with all the challenges associated with my job role.
