Performance Management Communication Plan
Question One
Accounting Inc. needed to evaluate its employees through various job-specific
performance dimensions. In my opinion, I believe that it focused on most points regarding what
makes a good communication plan. For instance, it sensitized the employees to evaluate their
knowledge about the company’s core competencies by sending personalized email messages
(Aguinis, 2013). Additionally, the company required the employees to respond, stating how they
believed the core competencies played out in their specific positions. If the employees had a hard
time trying to respond, the company went a step further and asked them to give brief examples
(Aguinis, 2013). Accounting Inc. proceeded to host several meetings on the subject matter,
sometimes posting bulletins that informed the employees how and why the core competencies
linked with its strategic priorities. By summarizing how the performance system worked,
Accounting Inc. ensured that its plan was transparent and concise (Aguinis, 2013). Therefore, I
believe that the company had an exemplary performance management communication plan.
However, there are some parts it probably left out that need highlighting.
Question Two
I did not come across any section where the company mentions how its performance
management relates to other initiatives or programs such as training. The case study only
mentioned how the performance scores related to the monetary rewards (Aguinis, 2013).
However, the plan was not elaborate enough to highlight some of the training programs needed
to enhance employee performance or how concepts such as promotions or compensations would
happen. Additionally, the article did not mention the tangible benefits of the performance
3
management system (Aguinis, 2013). The organization did a fantastic job highlighting how the
performance management process fitted with its organizational strategy. Therefore, polishing up
on the identified points of concern will significantly improve the communication plan’s
effectiveness.
