Environmental Planning
Environmental planning is the process that involves the evaluation of how factors
concerning social, political, economically, and governance how to affect the environment when
considering the developments. This plan’s main goal is to come up with a situation of win-win
society and that of the environment. In addition, for a successful plan for the environment,
society can use the area in productive ways. Thus the environment wins where it is capable of
sustaining its future generations. Environmental planning has three components planners must
consider in decision making. Firstly, is the present condition of the environment? This
component considers the existing area that needs to be developed, which involves the natural
resources of land and buildings. Secondly, the other component is the vision. It involves where
goals are set with measurable objectives considering the rules and regulations of the society’s
needs. Thirdly, the other component is the process of implementation, where a vision is put into
action considering the materials and personnel needed in carrying out the plan. The planners
must understand the human decision-making process to manage the relationship between human
and ecological management.
Conclusively, some principles must be followed when managing the environment.
Firstly, the user pays principle gives users the responsibility to pay all the running costs and the
marginal environmental damage. It involves all the users paying the costs for utilizing resources
and services whenever the resources are used. For instance, the farmers are supposed to pay fees
for their lands. The other principle is a precautionary principle that suggests that the environment
must be protected with measures, especially in heavy actions that may damage the environment.
The main objective of this principle includes measuring primary and secondary activities that
pose a threat to the environment.
