ENGLISH REFLECTIVE REPORT
I was surprised and apprehensive when I initially accepted the work since I assumed it
would be tough for me to complete. After gathering my thoughts, I decide how and what I will
accomplish first in order to complete my task. I started by doing some research on the subject of
creativity. I’ve seen both the defects and the benefits of creativity, and I’m attracted by the issues
that look at what creativity will do in our daily lives. After that, I look for materials to help me
understand the content of my speech. I’m looking for information online and am considering using
the online library services of university .
Firstly, I believe it will be easier to finish the project provided after conducting research
on the topic of my speech. I’m also looking forward to completing this task. After completing the
work, I realize that creating creative content is not easy and takes a long time. Various inputs that
must be addressed in order to develop creative material in the form of speech, so that the speech
and video given have an impact on the listener. The task has shown me that in providing people
with explanation or clarification, a thorough study needs to be done. I also conducted some reading
on how to give a decent speech because, to be honest, I have never given a public speech for any
suitable topics. However, I thoroughly loved the process of doing this task as it challenged my
authority as a student. During that time, I tried a number of tools that claimed to be able to assist
me in editing and compiling the video, including Adobe Premiere Pro, Filmora and also IMovie.
The tools offered various functions and were very useful, however, I decided to proceed with my
task using Filmora as they offer more simplicity and fulfill my editing skill level. As my knowledge
regarding vocabulary and grammar were practically not in the ideal level, I also used some of the
language tools as my reference for any words or sentences that needed revision or improvement.
For example, I tend to check my work using Grammarly for more accurate grammar and
vocabulary.
Next, I took a week to do the research. I find it hard to understand the topic without looking
for the suitable material in online forums and also discussion rooms. Fortunately, I found the
suitable topic for my task. After a week, I attempted to compose the text of my speech and plan
the logistics of my video recording.It takes me to another week of preparation of the text for the
speech and also to prepare the aids slide material. For the recording process, I took around 3-5

days to fully complete the session as I need to balance my time with the family, work and for the
task. I also decided to take a week’s time for compiling purposes to ensure the video comes out
smoothly as I expect. Personally, I do think that creativity will help me in organizing and make
the video more impactful. It took me a long time to finish this project because I am not a very
creative person. I took these five weeks to do this assignment because it is something new for me
and takes a long time.Before recording the video, I have gone through some training to ensure that
my speech comes across as unique and inventive. I was depressed at the moment because I believed
my work did not meet my expectations for creativity and innovation. Then I look for videos with
new and creative components that can assist me. As a result of this discovery, it was discovered
that creating a film with unique aspects and innovation can further pique the audience’s attention.
I used various aspects at the time that may assist me in generating videos with creative elements.
I use background music to pique people’s interest in watching my films, and I include some
pertinent images to give the audience a sense of what I’ll be saying.
Preparing a video clip of my speech was a procedure that had a significant impact on me.
It was a really beneficial experience for me to have in my life because it allowed me to
communicate while performing this assignment. I initially thought the task was too difficult for
me to do, but then I remembered the phrase “a goal without a strategy is just a wish.” After viewing
those words, I told myself that until I do it now, I will never have a new experience in my life,
therefore I began my assignment by preparing what I would do first.By taking this course, I will
be able to adapt what I have learned in the classroom to my work environment, where it will be
extremely beneficial to me in doing my daily activities. Understanding the notions of creativity
and innovation allows me to think more openly about the concept of making a film and
communicating with others. Furthermore, this training has had a significant impact on my
understanding of the necessity of good communication in obtaining input.Speech that without
context will not be remembered by the audiences. During the process of finalizing the video, I did
find some of the ideas can be improved to provide the audience with more insight regarding the
topics. When I think about the topics, I should put myself in the audience’s place, and give the
more understandable comparisons to ease their understanding. It will help to reach their thinking
scope and attract their attention.

As I completed the compiling of the video, I showed the video of my speech to one of my
family as feedback was needed at that time before submitting the final revisions. At first, I was
embarrassed and hesitant to show my speech recording, but to improve my speech and the video,
I need to accept any criticism that will help in my speech. I asked my brother for his perspective
as I want to make sure the message of the speech is received well. I need him to determine that the
speech is delivered in an explanatory or reporting style. After watching my speech video, he was
taken aback because he knew I was a very shy person in front of the camera.He was also impressed
because I created something out of my comfort zone. During that time, my brother mentioned that
he understands my speech vey well and considered that as an explanation video of what creativity
can do in our daily lives. My brother then mentioned that after watching the video of my speech,
it may be improved in terms of the presenting material I want to convey. I accept that point of view
and work to enhance my video. He suggests, as I explain to each of the points, I can provide the
audience or listener a keyword for the said point of the speech.For example, during the speech, I
provide the graphic of the said point at the sides of my video. A brother’s perspective is a fantastic
perspective for me in every action I take.
The method I learned in this course at Open University Malaysia made it extremely easy
for me to understand the subject and the task, while also assisting me in finishing the assigned
activity. This course offers a variety of mediums through which I can obtain information about my
studies and complete the work. I may access knowledge online using OUM’s e-tutor, which allows
me to ask inquiries at any time and from any location. My lecturer, who supplied a wealth of
information about this course and this task, gave me a clear understanding of how to finish the
project and better grasp this course and task. I am really grateful for the support I received to
complete this task. In completing this task, a video is needed to be recorded. There are many
advantages if the video is recorded. Firstly, the video can be edited to ensure the best moments
were captured for the task. It will help to increase the mark for the student. Next, the advantages
for video to be recorded as it will be easy to access for future references. I can use the video as
references or guidance to improve my speech. Lastly, advantages for the video to be recorded is
the video can help to increase the confidence in public speaking. During the completion of the
task, speaking in front of a camera multiple times helps in boosting the student’s confidence to
speak more fluently. The video provides many advantages for the student to improve their public
speaking skills.

There are many interesting experiences that happen in the process to complete this task. I
am really grateful for the opportunity that was given to me through this course as it can improve
my public speaking skills and also boost my confidence. It’s tough to put into words all of the
changes this class has made to my task. But, throughout the course, I improved my writing skills.
Not only do my words have greater depth and soul, but my writing has expanded into a realm I
never imagined imaginable. I now have a solid foundation and a comprehensive writing armory
for future projects thanks to my research and learning of new techniques.
