Methodology and review procedure
The Bahamas’ national review was prepared in collaboration with the Office of the Prime Minister’s Economic
Development and Planning Unit (EDPU) and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The EDPU, as the NDP focal
point, is in charge of assuring and monitoring national, local, and ministerial SDG implementation, while the
Ministry of Foreign Affairs is in charge of international SDG activities. Officers from various government
ministries, departments, and agencies, as well as academia and the corporate sector, helped facilitate this
partnership. The formation of a Sustainable Development Goals Technical Committee will enhance institutional
structures.
This study was made possible by two key relationships. A grant from the UNDP enabled the University of The
Bahamas to produce an SDG country report in collaboration with the Prime Minister’s Office, a statistical
compendium of Tier 1 SDG indicators, an advocacy plan for an SDG programme of action and a thematic report
on mechanisms to ensure no one is left behind. This work was aided by the University of The Bahamas.
Ongoing SDG statistical reporting and the development of institutional arrangements for ongoing SDG
monitoring are the focus of the second partnership with the UN Economic Commission for Latin America and
the Caribbean (ECLAC), which will provide technical support through a grant from the German Government
and the German Society for International Cooperation.
