The review’s methodology and procedure
Both the OPM’s Economic Development and Planning Unit and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs worked together
to manage the production of The Bahamas’ national assessment. To ensure and monitor SDG implementation at
the national, local, and ministerial levels, the EDPU, the NDP’s main point of contact, is in charge; the Ministry
of Foreign Affairs, on the other hand, is in charge of continuing to monitor SDG-related efforts at the
international level. Support for this partnership has come from officials from different government departments
and agencies, as well as from organizations in the private sector and academia. SDG Technical Committee will
enhance institutional structures.
This study would not be what it is today without the support of two key alliances. One is a grant from the United
Nations Development Program (UNDP) that supported, through the University of The Bahamas, a country
report on SDGs in collaboration with Prime Minister’s office and preparation of Tier 1 SDG Indicators statistical
compendium, an advocacy plan for an SDG program of action, and a thematic report on mechanisms to ensure
no one is left behind. It was written with help from the University of the Bahamas.
As part of this second partnership, UN ECLAC will be providing technical assistance through a grant from the
German government and the German Society for International Cooperation to conduct a needs assessment for
strengthening ongoing SDG statistical reporting and to assist in the development of institutional arrangements
for the ongoing SDG monitoring process….
