Review methodology and process
The Bahamas’ national assessment was prepared by the OPM’s Economic Development and Planning Unit and
the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The EDPU is in responsibility of assuring and monitoring SDG implementation
at the national, local, and Ministerial levels, while the Ministry of Foreign Affairs is in charge of continuous
international SDG monitoring. This cooperation includes officers from many government ministries,
departments, and agencies, as well as from civil society, academia, and business. The establishment of a
Technical Committee on SDGs will strengthen institutional institutions.
This study was made possible by two important partnerships. First, the UNDP has funded the preparation of an
SDG country report in collaboration with the Prime Minister’s Office, as well as a statistical compendium of
Tier 1 SDG Indicators, an advocacy plan for an SDG program of action, and a thematic report on mechanisms to
ensure no one is left behind. This work was made possible by the University of The Bahamas.
It will also provide technical assistance to strengthen ongoing SDG statistical reporting via a grant from the
German Government and the German Society for International Cooperation, and help develop institutional
arrangements for ongoing SDG monitoring.
