Methodology and procedure for conducting the review
The process of drafting The Bahamas’ national review was handled by the Office of the Prime Minister’s (OPM)
Economic Development and Planning Unit (EDPU) and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The EDPU, as the focal
point of contact for the National Development Plan (NDP), is responsible for ensuring and monitoring SDG
implementation at the national, local, and Ministerial levels, while the Ministry of Foreign Affairs is in charge
of ongoing international monitoring of SDG-related initiatives. Officers from numerous government Ministries,
Departments, and Agencies, as well as civil society groups, academia, and the business sector, have contributed
to this alliance. The establishment of a Sustainable Development Goals Technical Committee would help to
strengthen institutional frameworks.
Two significant partnerships participated in the preparation of this publication. With the United Nations
Development Program (UNDP), the Bahamas has collaborated with Prime Minister’s Office to compile an SDG
country report, a statistical compilation of Tier 1 SDG Indicators, an advocacy plan for a program of action for
the SDGs, and a thematic report on mechanisms to ensure that no one is left behind, via a grant to the University
of The Bahamas. With the help of The Bahamas’ University of the Bahamas, this document came to be.
German government and German Society for International Cooperation grants will be used to conduct a needs
assessment for strengthening ongoing SDG statistical reporting and help develop institutional arrangements for
ongoing SDG monitoring in Latin America and the Caribbean (UN ECLAC), the second collaboration.
