Unit VI Journal
I believe the most difficult aspect of the whole process for me was figuring out the
distinction between the body and the literature review. I now realize that the literature review is a
compilation of material and arguments acquired from other sources. At the same time, the body of
the paper is an expression of your own ideas and opinions. In the beginning, I felt the paper’s
structure was unusual, but as I progressed through the class and the readings, I realized that it was
exactly how it should be. The process of writing an academic paper was completely new to me
before this class, and I had no idea how to approach it until I started taking it. This class has made
me a better and more informed writer when it comes to my future writing aspirations. I believe
that the scope of my project has been narrowed down effectively. There are so many choices to
take when discussing the rise of artificial intelligence, and I chose arguments that make the flow
of the paper transition onto each body paragraph perfectly. I detected differences between
academic and non-academic publications in terms of the structure of paragraphs. The academic
materials are written in a more formal style, whilst the public sources are designed for the general
public to read.
