The paper provides a very distinctive description of the Western expansion with
elaborate discussion on the process and the reasons for the Western expansion. I liked the
articulation of the benefits that were seen by the expansionists on the movement to the west
which included the enhanced access to the Mississippi river for navigation and the benefits
that such access to the river was expected to offer to the farmers and the contribution it had
on promoting the development of the agriculture and the US in general. The paper further
articulates the plight of the Natives who were the original occupants of the land and their
contributions of the Americanization of these groups of individuals to the Westernization
plan. The paper comprehensively identifies the role that political good will played in
supporting the western expansion through formation of legislations which were meant to
make the expansion fruitful and less bloody through avoiding wars with the natives such as
the Dawnes Act among others.
In summary the write up is well structured with good flow and easy to understand and
follow up. I find that the articulation of the events and actions from various players both
private and public was included and in a balanced and educative manner.
